The President, Christian Association of Nigeria – His Eminence, Archbishop Daniel C. Okoh has urged Nigerians to earnestly and continually pray for the nation and her leaders, with the faith that God will direct their hearts in making the right decisions for the over-all benefit of the people.
In his words of encouragement during a national interdenominational prayer meeting organized by CAN on Wednesday in Abuja, tagged: “In His Hands”, he enjoined Christians to fervently intercede for the nation for improved economy, security and leaders of the country; expressing that the role of prayer in the life of a nation at this crucial moment could not be over emphasized, hence Christians must continue to stand in the gap for the country.
According to him: “The Bible is very clear on this. The Bible says that the prayers of the righteous availleth much, and what else could the church be doing, other than to lead the nation in prayers? The CAN leadership saw this as one of the main duties of the church in Nigeria, to stand in the gap for this nation, to pray always, for people in leadership.”
“To pray for all the three arms of government, and even for the military, and all those who are in governance, to continue to do what is right, and what can bring joy to the people,’’ he said.
“So, this is something that is already in our timetable, that regularly, we will come together as a people to pray for our nation, because we believe that God listens. We believe in the promise God has made to us about our country; Nigeria will flourish and we pray that it will happen in our own lifetime,’’ he added.
The Guest Preacher, Prophet Isa El-Buba, during his sermon likewise urged Nigerians to seek God’s divine intervention through prayer as a path of national healing in these difficult times.
El-Buba emphasized the critical role of prayer and divine intervention in addressing the challenges faced by the nation, saying ”The power to fix a nation comes from above through prayer.”
He noted that when leaders lacked the necessary wisdom, prayer could provide the insight needed to make righteous decisions and lead effectively. According to him, prayer is not only the starting point, but also the ultimate solution that can transform seemingly impossible situations.
He emphasised the crucial role of government in responding to the needs and voices of the people, by aligning their actions with the will of the populace.
“Leaders are seen as serving a higher purpose and guiding the nation towards positive change and healing. The only way our nation can be fixed is by divine intervention. We need the supernatural hand of God to rest on our leaders.
