The Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN) has elected Ven. Ademola Daniel Arowolo as its new National Chairman. from the Organisation of African Instituted Churches (OAIC) Bloc. Arowolo secured his mandate during an election held in Abuja this past Saturday, which saw active participation from delegates across all five blocs of CAN.

During his acceptance speech, Arowolo framed his emergence not as a personal win, but as a commitment to service. He emphasized his goal of enhancing the capacity and financial stability of Christian youths across Nigeria.

”I have emerged as a leader today, therefore, I have become a servant of all Christian youths of this country. I am here to deliver what God has bestowed on me to improve efficiency and capacity,” he said.

In response to the country’s pressing security concerns, including terrorism and kidnapping, the newly elected Chairman proposed the creation of a specialized internal framework designed to complement national security forces.

”We are trying to build a youth security agency to collaborate with federal security, because the federal security cannot cover everywhere. Internally, we can improve on the security situation of this country to make it better for us,”

He also extended his appreciation to the leadership of CAN, under His Eminence, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, for their continued guidance.

Other elected executive members were:

  • National Vice Chairman: Rev. Onajite (CCN)
  • National Secretary: Rev. Nehemiah Micheal (CPFN/PFN)
  • National Assistant Secretary: Joshua Dandaura, Ph.D (TEKAN/ECWA)
  • National Treasurer: Mr. Sanusi Samalia (CSN)

During his valedictory speech, the out-going Chairman, Amb. Belusochukwu Enwere, reflected on a tenure defined by impact and Christian Youth empowerment. Enwere noted that his administration is handing over a robust organization equipped with significant assets and sustainable programs.

”We were able to navigate both the clean and dirty waters, and by the special grace of God, it was a success. We are leaving behind a positive outcome.” Enwere said.

Representing the CAN President, Apostle Prof. Samson Fatokun ( CAN General Secretary) congratulated the newly elected Chairman and executive, calling it a milestone for the organization. He encouraged them to focus ecumenism, inter-faith and on the broader goal of nation-building.

The election also saw the appointment of National Directors to pilot the affairs of the various Directorates:

  • Ogunroku Mayowa (CPFN/PFN): Director, National Issues & Social Welfare
  • Egbire Augusta (CSN): Director, Legal & Public Affairs
  • Flora Raymond (TEKAN): Director, Ecumenism
  • Olasemojo Samuel – (CCN): Planning, Research & Strategy
  • Gbadegbo Emmanuel (OAIC) – Director, Education, Women & Youth Development.

According to Dean Rev. Emmanuel N. Ozumba (CAN National Director for Education, Women and Youth Development), the new executive team is set to represent the interests of Christian youths nationwide, focusing on youth empowerment, impactful youth-driven program and projects, ecumenical and inter-faith relations, and effective collaborations.
