The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has pledged its moral and institutional support to the drive for national excellence following a courtesy visit yesterday, 15 October 2025 by the leadership of the Institute of Quality Assurance Nigeria (IQAN) at the CAN National Secretariat in Abuja.

The delegation, led by the CEO/Registrar of IQAN, Prof. Victor Thomas Akpan, was received by the CAN President, His Eminence, Most Rev. Daniel Okoh. The visit was primarily aimed at formally introducing the Institute, identifying critical areas of collaboration, and enlisting the Church’s powerful voice in the nationwide campaign for quality and ethical standards.

In his address, Prof. Akpan articulated the Institute’s mandate to bridge the gap between service providers and citizens by institutionalizing robust quality management systems. He emphasized that the fight against substandard services and professional mediocrity requires a unified national front, making CAN a vital partner.
Prof. Akpan also unveiled that the institute came to tap the enormous moral authority and wide reach of the Christian Association of Nigeria. In partnership, both establishments can effectively champion the campaign for integrity, accountability, and quality of life for all Nigerians.

Prof. Akpan was supported by a strong team from the Institute, including Prof. Oto Cadet (Director of Operations), Engr. Gabriel Abah (Director of Policy and Technical Affairs), Mr. Gadaffi Yakubu (Head ICT), and Emmanuella Oguntoye (Research/Information Officer).

While receiving the guests, Most Rev. Daniel C. Okoh commended the Institute of Quality Assurance for its timely and necessary initiative. He noted that the Church has a divine mandate to ensure good stewardship and social justice, which aligns perfectly with IQAN’s focus on quality governance and ethical practice.

”The Church is positioned to address the spiritual and moral decay that often manifests as poor quality of service in public and private sectors,” Archbishop Okoh Stated.
“We firmly believe that faith should translate into excellence and integrity in all our dealings. CAN will not hesitate to collaborate on initiatives that empower our members and the wider society to demand and deliver quality.”

The visit highlights IQAN’s unwavering commitment to partnering key stakeholders to drive quality improvement in Nigeria, and CAN’s role in mobilizing faith-based organizations towards this goal.
