The Leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Southwest Zone, Rev Fr Osegboun Raphael Oluwafemi and some representatives paid a Condolence visit to the Anglican Bishop of Ekiti Oke Diocese, His Lordship, The Rt. Reverend Isaac Olatunde Olubowale at the Bishop’s Court in Usi-Ekiti on Friday 5 May, 2023 over the demise of Three Clerics and One other person in the Diocese.
In his speech, the Southwest Zonal Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria, Rev. Fr. Osegboun condoled with The Bishop, Clergy and the entire Lay Faithful of the Anglican Diocese of Ekiti Oke.
Rev. Fr Osegboun admonished the bereaved to believe in the resurrection of the dead. He reminded them the story of Job who conceded that it was God who gave and took; may his name be praised. He prayed God to stop the occurrence of tragic death in the Diocese and Nigeria at large. He read from the book of Sirach 2:1-11 and asked the bereaved to reflect on it for consolation.
Commenting, Bishop Olubowale who spoke through Mr. Daodu, appreciated the Leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria Southwest Zone for the kind gesture. He recalled that the ghastly motor accident that occurred on 3 May, 2023 claimed the lives of Reverend Arije of Saint James’ Anglican Church, Eda Oniyo Ekiti and Reverend Omotoso of Saint Mary Anglican Church, Ewu Ekiti, Reverend Felix Okeowo and Mrs. Okeowo on their way to Iro-Ekiti, Moba Local Government Area of Ekiti State where Revd. Okeowo was to assume duty in his new station
In company of the Southwest CAN Chairman were: Rev. Fr. Edward Oladele (CAN), Rev. Canon F.O Elerewe (Zonal CAN Director on Zonal Issues & Social Welfare), Mrs. Theresa Olowokere (WOWICAN), Mr. John-Ralph Kayode Ayodele (YOWICAN) and Ayomide Oladele.
